Less Puzzled

We have been fundraising for this adoption for over a year now. We knew that this adoption would be a lot different than our last one, but there are some similarities. There is a lot of waiting and a lot of unknowns. And, we never know how our adoption will be funded. We go on faith.

Our Ordinary Hero fundraisers do okay – sometimes. My goal was to earn $500 from that fundraiser and we are halfway there. There will be another grant contest in mid-April where we’ll have the opportunity to try for another $500 grant.

Last year we sent out letters regarding our tax-deductible account with Lifesong. That is still open if someone wanted to give us a tax-deductible gift.  Your checks can be made payable to Lifesong for Orphans and sent to:

Our third fundraiser is our puzzle. Each piece can be sponsored for $10. We will write your name on the back of each piece that you sponsor, so our child can see some of the people that helped bring him/her home. This puzzle has been slow-going too. But, we are over halfway finished. In fact, we have less than 200 pieces left. We are so thankful to those that love and support us!

Note:  The puzzle shown is just to show our progress.  We will be using a different puzzle for the final product once we meet our child.

This is supposed to be his excited face . . .

We do plan to meet our potential birthmother and her family this weekend for dinner with one of our social workers. We will also have an added guest – Nicholas. Some would say that it wouldn’t be wise to get him involved with all the unknowns. We decided to bring him because he doesn’t have a lot of expectations. We never told him that he is definitely getting a sibling. He is aware that this young woman is pregnant and is deciding whether or not she can parent the baby. If not, we will parent the baby. He prays for her all the time, but I don’t see him being heartbroken if it doesn’t work out because we have only kept him in the loop at a five-year-old’s level.

We are excited that they can meet him though. He tends to make a lot of people smile, which may help to keep the mood light. With the baby due in about two months, life could be getting interesting.  We're not sure where she is in the decision-making process, but we are looking forward to seeing her and her family again.  Keep us in your prayers!
