Nicholas and CC

I mentioned about how Nicholas was attending ClassicalConversations this year.  He’s got three weeks in the book and so far, he really likes it.  He is really learning the material and having fun while doing it.  We have some audio CDs that set a lot of the information to music and we listen to them a lot!   I also found some videos online that other people have made that have helped too.  Let’s just say that my entire family is going to know the timeline of the world from Creation to the present.

He’s really doing well with his presentations too.  This week’s topic was History.  You could talk about your own history or someone or sometime in the past.  Nicholas initially wanted to talk about his birth in Russia, but decided he would rather talk about Abraham in the Bible instead.  He worked hard to memorize his presentation and did such a great job.

They always ask for questions at the end of each presentation.  The boys can get silly at times, but they are learning to ask questions related to the person’s presentation.  When one of his friends was asked what he liked best about moving to Ohio (they just moved here recently), Nicholas answered for him – “Me!”  I guess we’ll have to work on the area of pride. Lunch and recess are my most trying times of the morning.  Daniel eats his lunch on my lap, which usually means my lap is full of Daniel’s lunch.  Then, he spends the entire recess just walking.  It is really great exercise, but I’m exhausted by the time we go home.  Thankfully, Evan came this week and is planning to come next week too.  We can tag team!

Overall, we are happy so far with our decision to enroll Nicholas in Classical Conversations.  He really looks forward to Mondays.  He’s making some new friends while having fun learning!

Here he is giving his presentation today.
