Fun(d)-raising?

I wanted to update everyone on how we’re doing so far with goal #2. We’re are slowly inching closer and closer to having it completed.

The Ordinary Hero grant contest is still going on until Sunday at 11:59 PM. We’ve had a couple sales, but we need more in order to really compete for the $500 grant. If you’re not a fan of the shirts, would you consider choosing something from the donation page? They have several items you can choose from. Did you know that one sheep could feed 40 kids in Africa? Also, many of you bought new backpacks for your kids recently.  Children in Africa have to pay to go to school.  Ordinary Hero has backpacks that you can purchase that they will donate to children in Africa.  Please consider making a donation. Our puzzle fundraiser grows in sponsors each month. We now have 165 pieces sponsored. I can’t wait until we get to the halfway mark!

Fundraising is not fun, but we are thankful to those that have joined us on our journey. Just so you know, Ordinary Hero does not give us the names of the people that make a purchase. Unless you tell me, I can’t thank you. If you wish to remain anonymous, that’s fine. But, it would be cool to have some of you take pictures in your Ordinary Hero gear. I’ll put you in my blog (if that’s appealing to you).


We will receive our next update from our agency on September 1st. We’re hoping for some positive news. We have only been a waiting family for six months, but it seems like longer because it took four months for our home study to be completed.  We actually had the opportunity to have our profile shown today, but decided against it. It was another difficult situation with too many unknowns. Our agency told us when we started the process to pray about each situation and to not do anything if we were not comfortable with the situation. It’s easy to get “desperate” and ignore the red flags, but we will continue to trust that our next child will come when the time is right.

Continue to keep us in your prayers as we wait. Some days are harder than others, even with a busy 4-year-old in the house.
